- Aerospace fasteners
Fastener specific machine advancements include fully automated, bowl fed fastener load/unload systems and advanced rapid approach to the rough grind cycle, both dramatically reducing part cycle time across a range of fastener materials and pre-grind tolerances. MORE INFORMATION >>
- Automotive components
The use of centreless grinders in the manufacture of automotive components is widespread, covering engine valves, valve seats and valve guides, pistons and piston pins and a range of shafts and axles, as well as bespoke fasteners for engine and chassis construction. MORE INFORMATION >>
- Precision bearings
Centreless grinding has become synonymous with the bearing industry due to demands of precision and speed, as well as manufacturing flexibility. Both parallel and spherical inner and outer races can be ground, as well as a range of parallel, tapered and radial rollers. MORE INFORMATION >>
- power generation
From spindles and shafts to electroceramics and associated assemblies, grinding for power generation spans a wide range of materials, sizes and ultimate applications. Our grinding experience means we can tailor a package to suit any production environment. MORE INFORMATION >>
- powertrain components
-
Powertrain components including ballscrews, spindles and a wide range of shafts and rotor assemblies are commonly finished on centreless grinders prior to final machining or assembly due to the precision and speed with which parts can be produced. MORE INFORMATION >>
- general engineering
Centreless grinding is renowned for high precision, high volume production, and as a result lends itself well to a variety of components across a range of applications. Drawing on over 30 years experience we can tailor a solution for almost any production environment. MORE INFORMATION >>

CLOSED LOOP SYSTEMS | Through working in close partnership with Schmitt Europe, we have developed a suite of additional automation options for use on centreless applications.
Along with wheel balancers, which we have historically offered on re-engineered machines, we have also developed a new centreless specific laser gauge arrangement and acoustic emission sensor package. These advances allow far more advanced control of the grinding machine, both through auto compensation of slide position and auto wheel dressing, as well as blank variance detection and dress monitoring. |

WHEELS WITHIN WHEELS | CTMT have enjoyed a long standing relationship with JCB, with the latest machine installation in 2011. Innovations on this machine, a Wickman Scrivener 2J with automatic load and unload conveyors, crown a production support spanning more than 20 years on centreless operations.
Whereas the previous machines were bar grinders, supplied to form a production line manufacturing cylinder rods for their hydraulic rams, this machine was to primarily focus on the precision manufacture of hinge pins for excavator arms. |

THE SIEMENS AGE | While we remain open to offering a range of control systems to suit customer preference, we have developed a bespoke range of Siemens controls to suit the centreless grinding process and machine automation perfectly.
With a focus on ease of use for the operator and flexibility for the grinding process, the new Siemens control systems also offer a range of technical advances over other systems on the market. The ability to store size and tolerance data for up to 5,000 components, as well as exporting historic production data via USB or LAN, offers for more support and information for both setters, operators and production management. |
