  new ctmt machines

We are currently in the process of designing a new range of centreless grinders, which will be presented as the CTMT Series of machines, built by us in the UK. Although design is still in progress, completion of the first machine in the range is scheduled for the start of 2013, which is a cause of great exitement for ourselves as well as the marketplace in general. Initial outline specifications are shown below, and although development is ongoing, we welcome any inital questions.

SIEMENS PLC OR CNC SYSTEMS   LINEAR MOTION GUIDES TO SLIDES

CNC PROFILE DRESSING   AUTOMATION EQUIPMENT

BETWEEN 6 AND 13 AXIS CONTROL   FULLY ENCLOSED

TOUCHSCREEN INTERFACE   A RANGE OF MACHINE SIZES

GRANITE MACHINE BASE   DESIGNED AND BUILT IN THE UK
  THE CTMT SERIES

The development of the CTMT Series range of centreless grinding machines draws on our extensive experience in rebuilding and retrofitting centreless grinding machines, earmarking key design features to improve performance, reliability and ease of use and maintenance.

Although this has been a long standing dream of the Company owners, it's only through emerging shifts in market demand and recent developments we have made with the Siemens control system that we find ourselves in a position where the development of a new line of machines is a viable proposition.

The CTMT range will cover 6 basic machine sizes, with standard wheel widths from 50mm up to 500mm, each offered with between 6 and 13 axis Siemens PLC or CNC control, optional CNC profile dressing, full machine enclosure and a range of automation equipment. Our primary focus in developing this range of machines, to run parallel with build quality and performance, is ease of setting, operation and changeover.

Each machine will be built on an epoxy-granite base for ultimate stability, and carry linear motion guides to every axis to offer maximum speed while enhancing precision and repeatability. Every model in the series will also have optional slide arrangements for plunge or throughfeed optimisation, as well as rolling element bearings to spindles with optional support styles.

By complementing our existing in-house manufacturing, fitting, wiring and software skills with a modular machine design, aftersales service and support will be second to none through the increased availibility of spare parts and existing provision of skilled, experienced service and support engineers on both mechanical and electrical applications.

With two intentions to order already placed, the first machine in the range is targeted for build completion at the beginning of 2013. As these projects unfold more information will be posted here and distributed through our newsletter, but for response to any immediate enquiries please contact machines@ctmachinetools.com.
